Pathfinder - The Price of Immortality
Statue of Endless Knowledge
Aura strong divination; CL 15th
Slot None; Price ? gp; Weight 3 lbs.
Description
Picturesque beyond words, the ochreous statue is made of bright tourmaline with faceted edges which leave the surface of the statue with the appearance of a priest pronouncing virtue over a congregation. The statue has been known by several names, the most fascinating being the Golden Arcadian, a reference to an ancient sage and prophet from a long forgotten age. Deep within the stone is a subdued, but ever present, light which glows when in the presence of a magic item of any type. It is believed that five other similar statues existed with varying powers thousands of years ago, but only one such relic has ever been uncovered. The statue has the ability to readily identify the purpose and history of any magic item that comes within 5 feet of, providing the user with the command word for the item (if any) and all of the item’s powers. Artifacts are immune to the powers of the statue. The possessor of the statue must become attuned to the item by remaining within its presence for at least a week in order for the statue’s magics to comprehend and communicate with the possessor’s mind. The statue does have a powerful side effect in that its user, if not cautious, may succumb to the statue’s inner knowledge and thereby lose themselves in the depths of the statue’s jaded history. This affect acts as a permanent mind blank spell unless the user succeeds on a DC 25 Will save each week they are within sight of the object, with a +1 for each week beyond the first they remain within its embrace.
